Heat Transfer Printing

The silicone transfer process is more complex than other printing applications. It consists of 2 stages: the transfer of the substance to the paper and the transfer from the paper to the fabric.

Silicon transfer application has started to be used instead of petroleum-based products especially in outdoor and sport textile products and its popularity is increasing day by day.

Many textile companies can operate faster by purchasing patterns, logos, writings printed on transfer paper, and pressing them on fabrics, instead of doing hard work in the printing part.

In silicone transfer application, the silicone is applied onto the PET sheet by screen printing method, then the PET sheet is pressed on the textile. The silicone is then transferred on the fabric with press machines. This transfer application is possible in two different ways:

  • Silicone heat transfer by hot melt powder: This is the most widely known heat transfer application and consists of 3 stages. The pattern is obtained on the transfer paper and is ready to be printed on the textile with a press machine. It is possible to experience several difficulties related to this application:
    • Silicone not being detached from the transfer paper during the press
    • Weak adhesivity during the press due to compatibility issues between the silicone and hot melt powder
    • Silicone pattern being removed from the textile after washing
  • Silicone heat transfer by liquid adhesive: In this application method, a silicone based adhesive product is used. It is possible to face the following difficulties during the production:
    • Silicone not being detached from the transfer paper
    • Pattern being removed from the textile after washing
    • Weak adhesivity on the edges of the print
